Indian War US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Leather Rifle Sling 3rd Pat 1
Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Sling – 3rd Pattern – Original – Nice Condition. This is the 3rd Pattern Sling, with the narrow prong hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximatley 1 1/4″ wide x 65″ long. The sling has the round holes. This sling is a single length, NOT made from salvage civil war musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is starting to stiffen, but is still supple and very pliable. Some surface cracking and streched holes. No deep cracks or crazing. No breaks through the leather. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original rich dark brown color. No visible markings on the sling. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. The age of the leather, will make the sling weaker than when it was new, and may not be able to support the weight of the weapon. Check out my other items.
