This is approximately 56 inches long from end to end. It is 1 1/8 inches wide and 1/8 inches thick. This is a very high quality sling. The leather is in very good condition. And is very strong. The color ranges from a medium to darker brown over most of the length. There is some minor surface wear and wrinkling, but for the vast majority, it is relatively smooth. It is firm and completely pliable. The buckle is in very good condition and it is securely attached with either copper or brass rivets. Most of the paint is worn. On the other end is very clean and shiny. The end with the buckle is. It is my understanding that the number 77 refers to the year it was made: 1877. SWISS SCHMIDT RUBIN K-31, K31, K11. Original WWI Era US Army/USMC M1907 Leather Sling for the M1903 Springfield or M1917 Enfiled – Nice Condition. Up for sale is an Original WWI Era US Army/USMC M1907 Leather Sling. There are no visible markings or dates. This sling has the correct WWI Blackened Brass hooks. Still retains some of the original blackening on the brass hooks. The sling is used, see photo’s for condition. The sling has both leather keepers. The leather is soft and supple. No rips or tears in the leather. There are some minor surface cracks and wrinkling of the sling, please see photos. The leather has darkened due to age. The stitching is all tight and intact. This is an Original Functional WWI era Sling and would look great on a WWI era rifle. NOTE: this is a collectible item, suitable for a correct historic display. It is NOT recommened for actual use.
