I believe this to be for one of the Polish WZ or Mauser model rifles from WWII or just prior. Buckle is steel, which seems consistent with Polish. Steel button and leather keeper are present and in good condition. Leather has the fish scale/crosshatched pattern similar to whats seen on German slings. It’s in solid condition and suitable for careful use. There are a few verdigris spots on the leather from where it was in contact with a brass wire (which was holding it coiled for storage).
