Musket/Rifle Sling, Handmade, Hand Beaded strip, adjustable, Soft Leather, Longhunter, Mountain Man. I used suede for the inside of the strap for non-slippage and finished leather for weather resistance on the outside. All the leather has been left intentionally soft for comfort. I know that there are divided opinions on this aspect but you really just have to try a’soft’ one to be converted! It’s like the’lazy boy’ of slings! The beaded strip was beaded no machine made import junk! By myself back when my eyes were better. The beaded strip measures 7 and has been stitched, glued and gusseted onto the exterior of the strap. The beading pattern is of my own design and I call it’Crow Transitional’ because it is a mixture of Crow/ Blackfoot styles leaning more heavily on the Crow Style. The total length of the fully adjustable strap is 40″ or 3′ 4″. The width of the strap is 1 6/8. The cordage used in stitching is artificial sinew. The retaining straps are latigo leather and extremely thick and long lasting. Fits both Round and Octagonal barrels with cartridge tubes that are full length of the barrel. Except for the hardware, everything on this scabbard has been hand made, hand tooled, stained and finished from quality 9-10 oz. Natural leather will have the occasional range marks and skin grains which add great character, so each scabbard we build is slightly unique. The leather straps and lacing are also hand cut and stained. The straps are long, approx. 51, and cut from the same piece of leather as the scabbard. The throat of the scabbard is large enough you can reach inside to take hold of the rifle by its grip. This model also comes with a padded shoulder sling with 10 cartridge loops. Loops can be made for most rifle rounds. It is 3″ wide so it can easily accommodate 2.5″ rounds such as 45-70. (Pictured with 45 Long Colts). Sling and extension can be removed to be used also as a Rifle Sling on rifles with standard 1 mounts. Sling can be adjusted out to 38 without extension. In addition to finishing the leather, the scabbard, sling and straps have been given a weather proofing treatment to further help protect it from snow and rain. Designed for carry with the lace edge facing upward. Accommodate scopes, laser or flashlight attachments. This is due to the time and material involved in completing this custom order. That means we go to our leather supplier and hand select the piece that the scabbard, sling and straps will be cut from.
