Handmade-Hand Tooled Leather Rifle Sling. Padded and has adjustable length. Lots of tool work done to create these leaves and basket weave background. Brown leather with green leather lacing on sides. Back side is padded and covered in green suede leather. Adjustable strap on end with two screws for adjustment. Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Sling – 4th Pattern – Original – Excellent Condition. This is the 4th Pattern Sling, with the wide prong hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximatley 1 1/4″ wide x 65″ long. The sling has the oval holes. This sling is made from a single length of leather, NOT the salvage civil was musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is soft and supple. No cracks or crazing. No breaks through the leather. It has the original sling keeper. Still has the original dark brown color. No visible markings on the sling. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. The age of the leather, will make the sling weaker than when it was new, and may not be able to support the weight of the weapon. Check out my other items.
