Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Sling – 3rd Pattern – Original – Nice Condition. This is the 3rd Pattern Sling, with the narrow prong hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximatley 1 1/4″ wide x 65″ long. The sling has the round holes. This sling is a single length, NOT made from salvage civil war musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is starting to stiffen, but is still supple and very pliable. Some surface cracking and streched holes. No deep cracks or crazing. No breaks through the leather. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original rich dark brown color. No visible markings on the sling. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. The age of the leather, will make the sling weaker than when it was new, and may not be able to support the weight of the weapon. Check out my other items. The sling has the oval holes. This sling is made from a single length of leather, NOT the salvage civil war musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is soft and supple. Some surface cracks and minor crazing on the surface of the leather. No breaks through the leather. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original dark brown color. The sling is very faintly marked with the inspector initals at the tip of the sling. No other visible markings. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. It has an extra adjustment hole for the brass stud. The age of the leather, will make the sling weaker than when it was new, and may not be able to support the weight of the weapon.
