Original Leather Us Military Model 1887 Krag Trapdoor & Springfield Rifle Sling
Very nice looking sling overall. This is an original leather sling from a Krag or Trapdoor. This sling type can and was used on other rifles up to 1907 and beyond. It has very good brass hardware and very good leather. The keeper stitching is very strong as is the section that holds the two sling leather pieces together. The brass button has a dried substance on it. The leather is strong and will easily hold the weight of a rifle, including the keepers. The leather has medium and darker medium brown colors. The leather is soft and pliable with some minor wear spots. Some hairline cracks but not that many. About a 4 inch area below the frog has minor hairline cracks. Surface wrinkles and smooth leather for the most part. It measures approximately 71 inches. The backside of the leather looks very good. The tip is stamped with what looks like “W G” and there may be another letter inbetween. I will be posting more of these slings.
