Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Sling – 2nd Pattern – Original – Very Nice Condition. Up for Sale is an Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Sling. This is the 2nd Pattern Sling, with a single hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximatley 1 1/4″ wide x 65″ long. These longer slings were commonly made by sewing two salvaged Civil War Musket Sling together. You can see the seam were the two slings were sewen together. The only visible markings on the sling is a “US”. The leather is soft and supple, some wrinkling of the leather. No breaks through the leather. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original dark brown color. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. The age of the leather, will make the sling weaker than when it was new, and may not be able to support the weight of the weapon. Check out my other items.
