leather rifle sling

This is an original WW2 JAPANESE LEATHER RIFLE SLING that was taken off a Type 38 Rifle brought back from the Pacific Theater by a U. Army Soldier at the end of WW2. We removed the sling off the rifle personally just last week and this sling HAS NOT BEEN CLEANED OR WIPED DOWN, IT IS JUST AS FOUND. To the best of our knowledge this is the first time this sling has been removed off this “bring back” Japanese war trophy rifle in over 70 years. The sling is in very good used condition and the leather is still very soft and supple for its age. No cracks or dryness visible. There is only one adjustment slider on this sling, not sure if it had more or not, it just came with the one. All the stitching is intact and very good. PLEASE NOTE, THERE IS A SMALL HOLE PART WAY UP THE SLING AS SHOWN IN THE PICTURES. THESE HOLES LOCATED UP THE SLINGS OF BRING BACK RIFLES WERE COMMON AND DONE BY THE U. SERVICEMAN WHO BROUGHT THE RIFLES BACK. THIS GI ADDED HOLE ALLOWED THE SLING TO BE KEPT TIGHT AGAINST THE RIFLE LIKE THE SLINGS ON THE 1903′S AND M1 GARAND RIFLES. THE JAPANESE NEVER ADJUSTED OR HAD THE SLING BUCKLE HOLES TO KEEP THEIR THEIR SLINGS TIGHT AGAINST THE RIFLE TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE. Please look at all the pictures and use the “zoom” option to view this sling in detail, it is a very nice one, but it does have the GI adjustment hole in it. NO LEATHER TREATMENT HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THIS LEATHER SLING TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE AND IT MAY BE A GOOD IDEA TO LAY THIS SLING ALL THE WAY OUT AND APPLY A LEATHER CONDITION TO THE SMOOTH OR TOPSIDE OF THIS SLING.
