Very nice looking sling. It is approximately 71 inches. It has minor surface wear. It is very strong with firm but pliable leather. The surface is smooth for the most part with some spots having light surface cracking and wrinkling. It is stamped in the middle of the sling: ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL. & on the one tip below the brass button. The color is a medium brown with some darker spots. It has 2 very good looking keepers with strong stitching. The brass button looks very nice with some green tarnish. The brass frog also looks very nice and it is securely attached. This is a very nice looking 1 piece sling that measures approximately 69 ½ inches. It is very strong and the leather is firm but pliable. The color ranges from a medium brown to a darker brown throughout. The brass keeper is very strong and has some tarnish. About 19 inches inward, it is stamped E. And there looks to be additional stamped words above it but they are a little hard to read with the wrinkling. From the frog end at about 29 ½ inches there is an approximately 1 inch edge of the leather that is worn down about 5/16 at the most. There are 2 very nice leather keepers with strong stitching. The brass button is very nice. On that edge of the leather, it is stamped RAL. From that end, at 22 about 22 ½ inches, there is a spot were additional holes were made for the frog. The surfaceis a mixture of smooth and minor surface wrinkling with 4 of the frog holes having shallow surface cracking between them. Overall, this is a very nice and clean sling. Original leather sling for M1873. 45/70 Trapdoor rifle and. This sling style pieces two leather sections together to make one sling, with two brass hooks one end / two keeper loops other. Leather is in good condition, but is well used and dark from oiling over the years, has a few cracks on outer surface where it bent around swivel but clean on opposing back surface (see pictures), still quite serviceable.
