Original and very nice WWII Japanese leather sling for the Arisaka Rifle. This sling was recently taken off a beautiful Vet bringback Type 38 Arisaka Carbine. This sling was designed to be used on any Arisaka Rifle (both Type 38 & 99) Rifle or Carbine. The sling remains extremely sturdy, is not age cracked, and remains very pliable in condition. Sling has both its sewn leather keepers intact as well as its original brass stud. Overall a beautiful original Arisaka Rifle sling. Up for sale, a Japanese Arisaka Type 44 Rifle Sling. From what I understand this sling was/could also be used on a Type 99. The buckle is steel and the button is brass. It has 10 holes for adjustment for the buckle. This hole appears to have been made after the fact by hand. See the ragged edges on the inside of the hole. The leather is in good condition. It is strong and supple with no tears. The surface show age appropriate wear. Dimensions of the sling are as follows. Give or take a 10th of an inch: Sling overall length: 41 1/2″ Sling width: 1 7/16″ Buckle inside dimensions: 1 1/2″ x 1″ Buckle outside dimensions: 2″ x 1 1/2″ Leather loops outside dimensions: 1 3/4″ x 3/4″ The characteristics of this sling and the research line up with a real genuine Arisaka sling, not a reproduction. Up for sale, a Japanese Arisaka Type 38 Leather Sling. This sling has a steel buckle and button. It has 2 buckle slots and one grouping of five and one grouping of three adjustment holes. One leather loop keeper. The kanji is still nicely visible. The character closest to the button has some wear. The full character is visible when the light shines on it (see pic). The leather is still strong and pliable. The surface is worn from use and the surface is flaking on the high wear areas where the buckle and button attaches. Dimensions of the sling are as follows. For your consideration is a near mint WWII Japanese Arisaka rifle sling. This is probably one of the nicest Arisaka slings you will find. The leather is soft, supple & in the original light tan color. This sling saw little if any use. The brass buckle & stud are in excellent shape. They had a lot of verdigris built up but I actually cleaned that off. I originally intended to mount this on my Type 99but it is simply too mint too match the wear on the rifle. Remains of brass verdigris are on the rough side of the sling & a picture is included of the buckle prior to cleaning – it takes decades for that much build up to occur. Slings loops are in like condition & show very little wear. Properly hand stitched with heavy thread. If you have a mint Arisaka rifle this is the sling youve been pining for. Original WWII Japanese Army Type 38 T38 Arisaka brown leather rifle sling. The sling can also be mounted and used on Type 99 T99 Arisaka. Yes, this sling is absolutely strong enough to both mount on your Arisaka and also Use The Sling on your Arisaka!! These slings are quite scarce and this one is brown in color and has supple leather. Complete with correct steel wartime adjustment buckle. Sling also has a steel fastening end button and a very well worn leather loop. Found this neat old sling at a small local gun show at the bottom of a table holders miscellaneous catch all holster and straps box. You know those boxes, you’ve probably seen them yourself. Looking down inside the box to the bottom, I got lucky for once and found this sling. Strap leather is still reddish brown in color. Sling was fastened together when I got it. I disassembled the sling to better photograph the sling. It’s a pretty good example of an Original Japanese WWII Arisaka Rifle Sling Strap. Both steel pieces are magnetic. Old kanji painted characters probably soldier ownership or possibly ownership and/or unit markings on the leather sling strap. Some of the kanji markings are faded into the leather a good deal, only enough left there to let you know what once was there, essentially a ghost image for some of the kanji characters. Yet, other kanji markings are stronger as the pictures bear out. Leather is worn from age and use but surprisingly the leather is quite strong and leather looks to be entirely intact. Correct Steel Adjustment Buckle fits well. Leather keeper is very worn and has stretched some. I don’t know if the steel end button is the proper one or not but it was on the sling when I got it. Same for the worn leather keeper, was on the sling when I got it. Length of sling strap is 43 inches long end to end. Width of the strap is between 1 1/8 inches and 1 3/16 inches wide.
