For sale here is a great looking US WW1 or WW2 Era M1907 Leather Rifle Sling for the M1903 Springfield or M1 Garand. I believe the sling is WW2 period due to the russet color that remains in places. The sling is complete with 2 leather keepers, 2 steel adjustment hooks, 2 blued steel slide hooks with blued rifle attachments, and 1 steel connector ring. 1 of the adjustment hooks has lost pretty much all of its finish, and the other appears to be blued, but also shows wear and finish loss. The leather is lightly stiffened, but is still plenty supple enough to move around as it should. The leather is good and strong, but there are a couple of places with surface finish loss and there is some surface cracking at a couple of the hole sets. All of the stitching is strong and the metal fittings, though worn, do not have any major issues. This sling will definitely display well, and should be fine for everyday carry as well. This sling has a great look and will be a good addition to your collection. For sale here is a great looking US WW1 Era M1907 Leather Rifle Sling for the M1903 Springfield or M1 Garand. The sling is 1917 dated. The sling appears to be marked R. Over 1917 over H. The sling is complete with 2 leather keepers, 1 brass and 1 steel adjustment hook, 2 blued steel slide hooks with blued rifle attachments, and 1 blued steel connector ring. Both of the adjustment hooks still retain some of their blued finish, but do show significant finish loss. Very good condition original WWII Italian Carcano rifle sling. Fits all Carcano rifles and carbines. Leather is soft and supple and shows some normal wear. Full length 48 long and is complete. This one is the real thing. It was likely mounted on a m1903 or Rifle U. Model of 1917, but it could also have not seen use until a war later, on an M1 Garand. No cracks, splits, or deep mars, but it should be heavily conditioned before even mounting on a rifle. Note curved hooks and original keepers. Can’t read the inscription fully, but the date is 1918, and there’s an inspector’s mark below that. I would NOT use this for serious carry on a rifle. It’s 98 years old, and they tend to split preciptously. A lot of these saw use in and after the Second World War, as the “Great War” finished with several million on order/delivered after the Armistice. It is marked, Hickok 1943 and has 3 claw hooks instead of 2. The strap is longer than the normal 2 hook sling that was used on the 1917 rifle, 1903 rifle and the M1 rifle. The extra length was for the over the shoulder firing position for walking fire. The sling is in very minty condition and the leather is supple with no cracks, tears, loose stitching. It still retains the natural tan leather color. It has not been saddle soap or polished. This is a scarce leather to find in any condition and this sling would be very hard to upgrade.
