Could this be a unicorn? The famed German web sling that many experts say does not exist? Maybe not, but this sling is very unusual and I cannot find any similar types anywhere. The swivel looks very similar to German designs, especially the MG 34 and to a lesser extent the Gew 98, but the hook end is way different that the 34 (and not on the 98). No sling buttons, but you can see the football shape indentations in the brown leather at the hole. You can see marks where I assume some kind of buckle once was. No attached buckle so I believe this is the early German style. This sling should work on many applications, see dimensions below. Very nice original pre WW2 German K98 sling. The sling shows signs of use, but still has a nice pattern in it, and the leather is supple and not fragile. For sale here is a great looking WW2 German Brown Leather K98 Rifle Sling. The sling is in good condition, but does show some age and patina. The leather is supple and strong, but does show some very minor stiffening. There are two buckles, and they both appear to be unmarked. The keeper appears to be an addition and is riveted on.
