The leather is supple and strong, but does show some very minor stiffening. The metal fittings are brass and show heavy green age. The brass buckle is marked with a stylized maker mark. The sling is made from leather with metal hardware. The sling is used but in good condition. The leather is still soft and ready to mount onto your rifle. The sling has a German proof mark stamp right behind the fold over sewing. Its hard to see but its there still. Very rare early type German pre-WWII leather sling for Mauser K98. This one either 1934 or 1935 date of production. Design was changed in mid 1935. There is capital letter “F” stamped on sling Keeper. Authentic “K” date or “G” date German production. If you own 1934 – 1935 or early 1936 dated mauser – this is sling that you need.
