Very nice looking sling overall. This is an original leather sling from a Krag or Trapdoor. This sling type can and was used on other rifles up to 1907 and beyond. It has very good brass hardware and very good leather. The keeper stitching is very strong. The brass button and frog edge next to the leather have some black, dried substance. The frog is securely attached and has the 1st model legs which are thinner than the later frogs. The leather has some medium and mostly darker brown colors. The leather has a combination of smooth and surface wrinkles with almost no hairline cracks and no other visible cracking. The leather is soft and pliable. It is stamped 69. It measures approximately 69 1/4 inches. The backside of the leather looks very good. I will add it if I can capture it. I will be posting more of these slings. New made item: this a new made example of quality brown leather of the classic enfield smle series rifle slings in use from about 1900 until superseded by web slings in the latter part of ww2. Complete with running leather keeper loop and thronged for butt attachment this was the standard british military issue sling for almost fifty years. 1916 stamped on end of sling is the only marking on the current stock.
