This was taken off a Remington 700. As shown it is 32 inches long. Measuring the leather end to end, which includes the part that wraps around the underside, it is approximately 43 inches long. It comes with common mounting hardware as shown and both units are very clean with very good bluing. The leather is strong, soft, pliable and clean. The padded strap section is very nice looking and well padded. The leather has very minor wear and overall, it doesn’t look like it was used much. For Sale: one World War 1 original military leather rifle sling. This sling is stamped W. CO dated 1918 with inspectors mark C A C. The stitching is tight, the leather is soft and flexible. The brass double hook ends were dark finished most of which has worn away while the brass ring seems to have retained a lot of the original finish. The leather loop keepers are present in good condition. I have posted photos of the fittings and stitching for your examination. M1 Garand/M1907 Springfield leather sling from World War 1 and 2 and post war. The sling is 36 1/2 long. The second piece of the sling is approximately 22 long. The sling is stamped 1515. There looks to be the remnants of a gold embossed stamp next to the number. Sling shows normal wear/tear due to age with some cracking and other age related defects. Sling metal parts have two rivets. Sling is in two separate parts. I would consider for use in display but as I’m no expert I’ll leave that up to the new owner if they want to use the sling in support of a rifle. This vintage sling has been examined and the consensus by some is that it is pre to WW2 use. Others believe it may have been made by a foreign country for use on M-1′s provided to the US. This could include Japan, Korea, Turkey, Argentina, Denmark, Thailand, Norway, Brazil to name but a few of the many countries that received M-1′s. Normal wear and tear associated with age.
