Original WWI & WWII U. GI issue M1907 leather rifle sling. This sling was intended to be used on the Springfield 1903, 1917 Enfield, and U. S Trench Combat shotguns. The sling is all intact including both of its sewn leather keepers and remains in very solid condition with pliable leather that stands on its own. Rich brown color with a patina. These WWI dated slings were also used during WWII on the M1 Garand Rifle. Absolutely 100% guaranteed to be an original. This is an original leather sling from a Krag. This sling type can and was used on other rifles in the later 1800s. It has very good brass hardware and very good leather. The keeper stitching is very strong. The leather is strong and will easily hold the weight of a rifle, including the keepers. The leather has medium and darker medium brown colors. The leather is firm and pliable with some minor wear spots. About 1/3 of the frog keeper holes have a minor surface crack and there is one near the frog. Areas that look like wrinkles are minor surface cracks. There is an extra pair of frog keeper holes in-between two other pairs. They look like the other holes so this may just be a factory error that adds something rare and unique to the sling. Very nice looking sling. It measures approximately 67 ½ inches inches. This sling was originally made from 3 sections that are sewed together and the stitching is very strong. It has one brass hook that has a nice shape to it and is securely fastened. The vast majority of the surface is very nice with some surface wear on the end that has the keeper. Both keepers are very nice but the stitching has come loose where the ends meet.
