Up for sale is this Vintage Old Original WWII Era Rifle Leather Sling Strap 44″x1″ for M1 Carbine or Another. This sling came from an estate sale. The sling looks like it was used a lot, and is worn down. You can see this in the photos. This sling was sitting in a basement, in a box for many years and has some white spots, and smells musty. We found this sling in a box with other military slings. We don’t know exactly what rifle this sling was used with. For it’s age, this sling looks like it’s still in good shape, but we don’t know how strong the leather is. For us it looks like this is more of a display item for your collection. A nice find at the flea market last month! Sling appears nearly unissued. It holds the shape of having been on a rifle, but does not have significant wear or tear. Nicely stamped BOYT 43, with GAR stamped next to each of the steel clasps. Backside of the brass rivets holding the clasps shows some verdigris, as is to be expected after 80 years. Leather is a bit stiff, but you should have no problem getting this on a rifle and using it carefully! No cracking to the leather. I think the dark staining/marking on the one side of the sling is factory staining, the short side of the sling has none of that on it and is clean leather. Original WW1 British Army 1914 Pattern Leather Lee Enfield Rifle Sling. Genuine period 1914 pattern leather sling as used by British infantrymen equipped with the Lee Enfield rifle. During the First World War. The 1914 pattern equipment was introduced as an alternative to the 1908 pattern webbing equipment as there was not enough to equip the large amount of volunteers from 1914 onwards. The sling is an excellent example, the leather is still soft and has a nice aged patina. The underside of the sling is manufacture stamped Edwards Jones O&M and dated 1915. A British government issue broad arrow and no 19 is also present (see pictures). Please look at my other items for more militaria and collectables. A very hard to find original wide leather sling for the Japanese Type 99 Rifle. These are much harder to find than the rubberized canvas slings. Complete and good overall condition to display on a rifle. One small, old, field repair with two stitches (see picture). A hard to find original Japanese sling. This recent estate find is a Lot 3 Original WW1 (2) 1918 one marked and one not & (1) 1907? Leather Rifle Sling that are in good overall condition for use and age wear.
