Sling is in excellent near-NOS condition with ink stamps visible on backside and on each dog collar. Leather is supple, strong, and flexible. Of the few slings I had from this era, this has the most visible ink stamps. Amazing for a sling that is 80 years old. This example is a’Z-Stitch’ sling with an additional line of stitching. 1950′s Soviet and German reparation leather slings with straight stitching can be found occasionally as well. I kindly appreciate all the interest from my past listing of this sling and I have spent the past 2 weeks constructing another sling, so offered here is a great replica of the famous, impossible to find, USAF M13 Aircrewman shoulder pistol holster sling that was made famous by Lee Harvey Oswald when he used it with his (using the term “his” loosely) Italian Carcano rifle on November 22nd, 1963 in Dallas Texas. This replica is handmade nearly exact to the original I have, including the original style crimp fit plain faced double cap rivets, etc. Please see my pics of my original sling next to this replica to see the near exact construction and dimensions. Features same quality and thickness of leather, plus the correct black finish and shape, plus I was able to achieve just the right amount of grime/dirt to really complete the look. This example truly compliments the look of your Oswald Carcano replica set-up and is a must have to complete your LHO clone rifle display, so don’t miss it as it takes me quite a long time to make this and doubt I’ll be making any more. The last few of these I made are now being used in several museum displays and Television/movie documentaries regarding the assassination. Pre-WWI Era French Army Mle 1866-74 Gras Rifle Leather Sling – Original – Very NICE Condition – RARE. Up for sale is a pre-WWI Era French Army Mle 1866-74 Gras Rifle Leather Sling. The leather is soft and supple. It has the leather keeper, brass buckle and brass stud. The are some minor surface cracks and wrinkling of the leather. The stitching is intact, no fraying. There are three notches cut into the lower edge of the sling, see photo. There are no markings or dates on the sling. Original slings for the Gras Rifle are very hard to find, especially in this condition. This sling is suitable for an historic display on your rifle. It is NOT recommended for actual usage.
